Naming Your AI Teammates: Why Themes Matter

Liza Adams · January 22, 2025 ·

While most teams experiment with AI tools, one team built 20 custom GPTs as true teammates. Now they’re debating themes for naming them. Star Wars? The Office? Marvel? There are a lot of compelling and fun options.

(GPTs are AI assistants that teams train, build, and manage for specific tasks.)

The image below shows how a human-AI marketing team could be structured. This example uses Star Wars-themed names.

Why give character-themed names to custom GPTs?

  • Builds trust – Research shows people use named AI tools more often and work with them more closely.

  • Makes teamwork easier – Named AI tools lead to more natural conversations. It helps the team feel comfortable using them.

  • Speeds up adoption – Teams use AI more often in their daily work when they can relate to it better.

The key is finding the right balance. We need to make AI approachable without forgetting it’s still AI, not human.

In my newsletter (https://lnkd.in/gudcjVCH), I shared:

  • Their 6-month transformation journey, including the ups and downs

  • Their step-by-step playbook any team can follow, plus templates

  • Their most successful AI use cases and custom GPTs

  • Compelling results that made them company trailblazers

If you had 20 custom GPTs on your team, what theme would you choose for naming them?

AI Success: It’s About People, Not Just Tools

While 83% of companies call AI a top priority, only 26% are generating real value. Through our work with go-to-market teams, we’ve seen that success depends less on AI tools and more on people.

(But I know that many of you got excited over my personal AI tech stack post last week, https://lnkd.in/gb-yiZgM 😉)

The amazing tech capabilities (e.g, video creation, image generation, analytics, advanced voice, automation, etc.) matter, but the human side of AI matters more. It’s about changing how people work, think, and collaborate.

Here are key factors that determine AI success based on our experience (and they apply to all teams, not just sales, marketing, and customer success):

  • Active leadership support and actions that show AI is a real priority

  • Teams that mix both tech experts and daily users in decision-making

  • Clear connection between AI use cases and current business goals

  • A culture where people feel safe to learn and share

  • Training that focuses on real work situations, not just theory or general applications of tech features

To help organizations assess where they stand on these critical factors, I built the AI Success Check tool (no code using Claude AI).

Watch how it works in the 2-min demo video below.

The tool shows you: your chances of AI success, where you’re ready and not, and clear next steps.

Try the AI Success Check. See the link to the interactive tool in the comments.

Do the results match your experience? Which factors do you think matter most in your org?

Drumming Up Innovation: AI Transforms How We Work

Liza Adams · January 20, 2025 ·

Our work with the help of AI is like this drummer, El Estepario Siberiano: faster, better, and innovative!

For those enjoying a little break this MLK Day, here’s a lighthearted analogy I couldn’t resist sharing (see link in comments)

Just like he’s redefining drumming with skill, creativity, and precision, AI is helping us redefine work when we use it responsibly.

The difference? He has rare abilities like limb independence. Think about how tricky it is to pat your head and rub your belly at the same time. That’s the kind of coordination and focus he brings.

But with AI, we don’t need that level of innate skill to achieve better results. With our guidance, it helps us mere mortals step up and improve how we work.

Even ChatGPT Couldn’t Solve My Puzzle

My 12 year old and I have had no luck solving this puzzle. So I decided to ask ChatGPT Advanced Voice with Video to help.

We had an encouraging start then it went south quickly. 🤪 AI couldn’t figure it out either (yet). But I’m sure it will get there someday.
