As I recharge and wrap up the year, I’ve been doing some little AI experiments like using ChatGPT’s advanced voice and video capability to see how it can be helpful in daily life.
I asked it to count the snacks in our holiday station for delivery drivers. It wasn’t particularly helpful in this case. 😉 See the video below.
It correctly identified the items (Gatorade bottles, bags of chips, and Welch’s fruit snack packs) but struggled with getting accurate counts of everything.
It’s a good reminder that ChatGPT is a language model, not a computational model, so it’s not ideal for counting and doing math.

While not perfect, it’s amazing at understanding language, offering insights, and solving problems.
This is the least capable version of AI we’ll ever have. Just imagine where we’ll be this time in 2025.
