Live Truly: What AI Will Never Replace

Liza Adams · October 20, 2024 ·

There are some things AI will never replace. The joy of being with the people we love, the simple beauty of nature, and the feeling of fresh mountain air. I got all of that at my son’s cross-country meet in sunny Boulder, CO.

I hope the time AI saves us gives us more chances to truly live, filling our days with moments that technology could never replace.

CMOs & AI: The Greater Risk Is Not Trying

CMOs and Marketing Leaders: The Risk of Not Acting is Far Greater Than the Risk of Trying in the AI Era

Published on 2024-10-17 20:30

In an article I wrote in MarketingProfs (see the link in the comments), I discussed how marketing leaders can use AI to make career-changing strategic business impact. I highlighted six use cases for AI in marketing.

  • Developing Insight-Driven Strategies

  • Delivering Personalized Experiences

  • Overcoming Online Search Challenges

  • Accelerating Customer Conversion

  • Reducing Customer Churn

  • Optimizing Growth and ROI

For those who are audio learners like me, I used Google’s NotebookLM to turn this article into a short 9-min podcast episode below, featuring a natural conversation between two AI hosts. It’s not perfect. It can be more concise but it’s decent work for something that we didn’t think was possible until recently.

Disclaimer: This podcast was generated by AI based on the written MarketingProfs article and reviewed by me to ensure ethical and responsible AI use. It’s designed to provide an efficient, more inclusive way to consume information.

Let me know your thoughts on the use cases, evolving role of marketing leaders, and the AI podcast.

AI Funding: Invest in Skills, Create Jobs

Liza Adams · October 16, 2024 ·

Published on 2024-10-16 13:38

With companies like OpenAI making huge AI funding moves, we need a stronger focus, even policies, on AI literacy and job creation.

OpenAI raised $6.6 billion. Microsoft and BlackRock plan to invest up to $100 billion in AI data centers and infrastructure. In 2024 alone, 39 US AI startups each raised over $100 million.

These funds will advance AI and help people get ready to work with it.

Recently, California Governor Newsom vetoed an AI safety bill to avoid slowing down innovation with regulations.

But to keep AI moving forward, we should allocate more for AI education, training, and job creation.

While investments in these areas are growing, they’re still much smaller than the massive budgets for AI tech and infrastructure.

Only 15% of workers say they’re trained to use AI effectively. Yet, job descriptions requiring AI skills have tripled this year.

Investing in AI learning will drive innovation, ensure safety, and prepare workers for the future, so people aren’t left behind.

For example, a worker trained in AI could go from fearing job loss to leading innovation at their company.

Let’s discuss programs and policies that dedicate AI funding for literacy and job creation. Here’s why it’s important:

  • As early as 2030, AI could create 20 million to 50 million new jobs globally (McKinsey), but only if people have the skills to fill them.

  • Major companies like Ikea, JPMorgan, and WPP are already training employees in AI because it’s critical for growth.

  • It ensures AI benefits everyone, not just a select few.

  • It keeps our economy competitive. 58% of workers expect their skills to change due to AI in the next five years.

Investing in both AI tech and people isn’t a trade-off. It’s a strategy for progress. We also need thoughtful planning, clear guidelines, and accountability.

What do you think? How can we ensure AI funding supports workers too?

ChatGPT 4o Canvas: Real-Time Content Creation

ChatGPT 4o with Canvas Inserts Inline Tables, Quotes, Sidebars, and More As You Type

Published on 2024-10-15 13:49

OpenAI’s latest model, ChatGPT 4o with Canvas, isn’t just another text editor. While many talk about it allowing us to adjust document length, reading levels, and add emojis, Canvas takes content creation to a whole new level.

Imagine crafting a blog post and adding quotes and sidebars without leaving your document. Here are some of the things it can do:

  • In-line quotes and sidebars

  • Bulleted and numbered lists

  • Tables for data presentation

  • Endnotes and footnotes, and more

All these changes are made in-line. You see suggestions right in your document and can apply or reject them instantly, streamlining your workflow.

One of Canvas’s most powerful features is its ability to transform content. You can easily turn your document from one form to another, for example:

  • Article to ebook

  • Blog post to email sequence

  • Long-form content to social media posts

  • Written content to interactive quiz

Although ChatGPT 4o Canvas can be used for coding, this post focuses on its writing features. For marketers and content creators, Canvas’s real value is in its ability to enhance written content in real-time.

While it can’t create chart, images, or infographics yet, it can describe them. As AI continues to advance, we may see more visual design and multimedia options in future updates.

Check out the video below showing some Canvas features in action. Remember to guide AI and always review its work for the best results.

Have you tried ChatGPT 4o with Canvas yet? What have you found most useful?

Full Circle: My AI Work Featured in the Manila Bulletin

Liza Adams · October 14, 2024 ·

Published on 2024-10-14 20:30

When I was a kid, I watched my dad read the Manila Bulletin every day. It was part of his morning routine and our home. Now, seeing my work featured in its (digital) pages feels really special, like everything has come full circle.

As we celebrate Filipino American History Month this October, I’m reminded of the deep connections between the Philippines and the United States, and how they’ve helped so many families like mine.

The Manila Bulletin has been an important part of news in the Philippines for over 120 years. It’s kind of like a cross between the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and USA Today, given a different media and political landscape in the Philippines compared with the US. I wonder what my dad would say if he were still here today? I miss my Daddy.

Recently, I led an applied AI workshop with Radenta Technologies Inc. in the Philippines. Their team is doing something amazing. They aren’t just using AI to make things faster—they’re using it to help their people, grow their business, and value diverse backgrounds. It’s incredible to see how much good AI can do when used responsibly and with clear goals.

I’m proud to help companies like Radenta. Proud to support businesses not just in the US, but around the world, especially in the Philippines, which means so much to me.

If you want to learn more, the Manila Bulletin article tells the full story. See the link in the comments.

A huge thank you to Ana Grace Marcial,CMP, Randall Lozano, Caroline Lozano, MCS, CMC, and the entire Radenta leadership team for your enthusiasm, commitment, and for letting me be a part of your AI journey.
