Will AI Make Us Work More, Not Less?

Liza Adams · April 13, 2025 ·

What if AI is actually setting us up to work more, not less?

A new study from Harvard with Proctor & Gamble professionals (see link in comments) showed that individuals working with AI performed just as well as teams without AI. It also found that people using AI feel happier and less stressed.

But I wonder if feeling less anxious when using AI is just temporary. Eventually, it will demand more from us than we bargained for.

As AI becomes a bigger part of our daily work, what will we do with the time we save? Will we spend it doing things we love? Being with people who matter to us? Following our passions?

Or will we just end up doing more work? Will we even get to choose? Or will workplace pressure decide for us?

I’d like to think we’ll have a choice. But looking at how we’ve handled technology in the past makes me wonder. We’re much more productive than we were 100 years ago. Yet most of us still work 40-60 hours a week.

Maybe it’s just how we’re built. We always want to achieve more. It’s in our DNA to push forward. We see it in all facets of life from sports to medical breakthroughs. It’s what makes us human, both a blessing and a curse. It’s what makes us the most adaptable creatures on this planet.

But I also wonder if AI will allow us to reframe the question. Maybe the better question is “Will AI allow us to do more meaningful work?” rather than “Will AI make us do more or less work?”

This is what’s on my mind this Sunday morning. I’m curious what you think. Will AI give us more freedom? Or just higher targets to hit?

AI Memory: From Tool to Teammate with Your Digital Twin

Liza Adams · April 11, 2025 ·

AI just took a big step forward with OpenAI’s new memory feature.

When enabled, ChatGPT can remember context, past conversations, and what you’re working on so you don’t have to start over every time.

That may sound like a small convenience. But it marks a shift in how we’ll build relationships with AI.

Many of us are already training AI to work the way we do, especially through custom GPTs, assistants built with our own data, workflows, and goals.

One type of custom GPT we can build is a digital twin, a trained AI that mirrors how you think and work. It helps you:

  • Write in your voice

  • Spot blind spots

  • Offload tasks without losing your perspective

  • Brainstorm to make your ideas better

Right now, memory isn’t available for custom GPTs but it’s coming. And when it does, your digital twin won’t just reflect what you’ve told it. It will learn as it works with you.

That’s when AI stops being a tool and starts truly acting like a teammate.

It also raises a bigger question.

When phone numbers became part of our identity, carriers had to support number portability so we could keep them while switching providers.

We may need something similar in AI.

If we move from OpenAI to Anthropic, Google, or whoever comes next, we’ll want to bring our digital twin with us.

But that won’t be easy. There will be challenges around how AI knowledge is stored and transferred, privacy, and whether AI companies would even work together to prioritize this.

Still, this feels like a need users will care about. It’s early thinking but I’d love to know what others think.

I’ll be showing how to build your own digital twin that supports your work and decision-making style in a live webinar with Christine / Chris Heckart and Xapa today, April 11, at 9 am PT/noon ET.

New Report: B2B Buying & Trust in the Age of AI

Liza Adams · April 10, 2025 ·

AI isn’t just changing how buyers find solutions. It’s influencing what they trust and what they skip.

I contributed to this new TrustRadius report on B2B buying in the age of AI (link in the comments). The data is clear that trust starts long before your first touchpoint.

Buyers are doing their own research. They rely on peers, communities, and now AI to form opinions. Vendor content is often scanned but not believed.

The report includes insights from operators and experts across go-to-market, growth, and brand. It covers what’s working, what’s not, and where teams are shifting strategies.

There’s also new data on AI Overviews, changing search behavior, and the sources buyers actually trust.

The quote I shared is included, along with a snapshot I created that highlights key takeaways.

If you work in go-to-market, this research brings helpful language and data to trends you may already be navigating. Curious if this reflects what you’re seeing too.

Building Your AI Team: Specializing Digital Twins

Liza Adams · April 9, 2025 ·

My hubby already dreads the day there will be 8 more Lizas in the house! He can barely keep up with Human Liza and LizaGPT as it is! 🤣

I’ve told you about LizaGPT (https://lnkd.in/gHY68Zjq), my digital twin with Filipino fire–bold, salty, and spicy like a bowl of Chex mix. It’s been great seeing how it’s grown from handling basic stuff to being a real thinking partner.

But I’ve been thinking about what’s next. Just like real teams get better with specialists, so do our AI teammates.

I started with LizaGPT doing everything for work. It helps me think faster, support more clients, and adapt my message based on each team’s AI comfort level.

For personal stuff, I’ve been working with my travel twin since I’m always planning family trips. It knows about our teens, our dogs, that we love adventure travel, where we’ve been, food preferences, and our usual budget ranges.

Below is what I envision my digital twins might look like over time for work and personal.

I’m already building some of the specialized work ones. They’ll help me scale what I do best while handling the routine stuff that takes too much time.

This matters because when one AI tries to know everything about work, family, wellness, and travel, it ends up being just okay at all of it. Teams work better with clear jobs, human or AI.

You don’t need eight twins right away. I don’t have all these yet either! Start by splitting work and personal life, then add specialists where they make sense.

Want to see how this actually works? Join me this Friday, April 11 at 9 am PT/noon ET for my talk with Christine / Chris Heckart and Xapa on “AI Teammates and Your Digital Twin.”

I’ll show real examples of how to build AI teammates that make your life easier, not harder. Sign up using the link in comments.

How are you using AI today? Still working with one AI teammate or building your team?
