Real-World AI for Marketing: Role-Specific Use Cases

Making AI Work for Every Marketing Role: Real-World Use Cases in Their Jobs

Adopting AI goes beyond learning how to prompt effectively or use different AI features. It’s also about seeing what AI can do in our specific marketing roles.

Think of AI capabilities like powerful Lego pieces. Each piece is amazing on its own, but without a clear picture or instructions, it’s hard to know what to build. Just having these capabilities isn’t enough; we need a clear vision of how to apply them in our respective jobs.

To get the most out of AI, we need to go beyond general applications. In my newsletter this week, I break down three big ideas:

  • Shifting Our Mindset and Behavior with AI

  • Inspiring with AI Applications for Each Marketing Role

  • Starting Strategic, Growing Smart

It’s like using a smartphone: a small business owner might use it to manage inventory, process transactions, and connect with customers, while a fitness enthusiast might leverage it for creating personalized workout plans, tracking nutrition, and even connecting with virtual coaching for motivation.

The core technology is the same, but the real value comes from how it meets individual needs. AI is no different, every role needs specific use cases to see its true potential.

In this newsletter, I also show a sampling of specific AI use cases by marketing function and go through three of them in detail.

Big thanks to AI-forward marketing leaders Tamir Hardof, Alice Hansen, and Judy Ash for sharing their AI wisdom and experiences with their teams!

Also thanks to Isar Meitis and Drew Neisser for having me as a guest on their podcasts referenced in this newsletter.

If you’re interested in listening to an AI podcast version of this newsletter, you’ll find the link in the newsletter and in the comments. The AI podcast was created by Google’s NotebookLM with my oversight.

Marketing leaders, how are you inspiring and helping your teams to adopt AI with role-specific use cases? Which use cases have had the biggest impact? How are you driving responsible adoption?

Hire AI Talent Right: Try My AI Hiring Guide GPT

Liza Adams · October 8, 2024 ·

Struggling to hire the right AI talent? You’re not alone. In my work with business leaders, I’ve seen firsthand how challenging it can be to pinpoint the exact AI skills needed, ask the right questions during interviews, and evaluate whether a candidate’s experience truly fits the role.

This is why I created the AI-Ready Employee Hiring Guide GPT. GPTs are custom AIs built to do a specific task. It’s free to use (for those with a paid version of ChatGPT) and designed to make hiring AI talent smoother and more effective.

It’s not just about hiring someone with AI knowledge. It’s about finding people who can make AI work for your business. You need staff who can learn, adapt, and get results from AI tools.

The AI-Ready Employee Hiring Guide helps by:

  • Creating role-specific interview questions

  • Helping you focus on key traits like adaptability or ethics

  • Offering sample good candidate responses and red flags

The need for AI skills is becoming more important as reinforced by the findings from the Microsoft Work Trends Index:

  • 66% of leaders say they wouldn’t hire someone without AI skills.

  • 71% of leaders say they would rather hire a less experienced candidate with AI skills than a more experienced candidate without them.

  • 77% of leaders believe that with AI, early-in-career talent will be given greater responsibilities

But it’s not all or nothing. The guide helps you assess candidates on a range from “deep AI expertise” to “high potential to learn and adapt.”

The guide works for all kinds of jobs. Try it for any role like landscape architect, chef, marketer, engineer, or sportscaster.

Check out the video below to see the GPT in action for a Director of Content Marketing role. You can try it yourself using the link in the comments and you can also find it in the GPT store.

The future of work belongs to those who can blend AI capabilities with human creativity. Is your team ready? I would love your feedback on the GPT as well.

Empowering Women Leaders with AI in Colorado

AI learning happens everywhere, from sea level in Manila to 10,000 feet in Winter Park, CO! What an inspiring AI workshop with brilliant women leaders at the Denver Women Presidents Organization’s retreat!

Julie DeGolier, Monique VanAssche-Dermer, Amy Giggey, PHR, Gretchen Rosenberg, Katie Holdsworth, Wendy O’Donovan Phillips, Lisa Hunsicker, MD, Erica Spoor, and many others brought their expertise, curiosity, and growth mindset.

These leaders in finance, marketing, real estate, medicine, and more explored how AI can grow their businesses. We covered strategic vision, ethical use, and practical AI applications that can make an impact now.

I shared insights but learned so much from their unique perspectives. I know these women will motivate their teams and other leaders, creating a ripple effect of positive change.

The spectacular fall weather and mountain views made it even better. Colorado’s beauty is hard to beat. Mixing AI, women leaders, and nature is powerful!

Thank you Brenda Abdilla PCC for inviting me to speak at your event. It was a truly enriching experience for all!
